Publishing and Unpublishing

Control which portfolio projects are visible on your website.

Understanding Status

Every portfolio project has a status that controls its visibility:

Status
Visibility
Use When

Draft

Only visible in admin

You're still working on it

Published

Visible on your website

Ready for visitors to see

Publishing a Project

To make a project visible on your website:

  1. Open the portfolio project

  2. Find the Status field in the right sidebar

  3. Change it from "Draft" to Published

  4. Click Save

The project will now appear on your website's portfolio page.

Unpublishing a Project

To hide a project from your website (without deleting it):

  1. Open the portfolio project

  2. Change the Status to Draft

  3. Click Save

The project is now hidden from visitors but still accessible in the admin panel.

When to Use Draft vs Delete

Use Draft when:

  • The project needs updates before showing

  • You want to temporarily hide it

  • You might want to publish it again later

Delete when:

  • You no longer want the project at all

  • It was created by mistake

  • It's a duplicate

Tips

  • New projects are created as drafts by default

  • You can publish directly when creating by setting status before the first save

  • Unpublishing doesn't affect the project's data - you can republish anytime

  • Consider keeping older projects published to show your experience range
