Finding Existing Media

Locate and reuse images you've already uploaded to your media library.

When Adding Media to Content

When you're adding an image to a portfolio, blog post, or page:

  1. Click the media/image field

  2. Look for Choose from Existing or Select Existing

  3. The media library browser will open

  4. Find and click the image you want

  5. The image will be selected

Searching for Files

  1. Go to Media in the sidebar, or open the media browser

  2. Find the search bar at the top

  3. Type part of the file name or alt text

  4. Results filter as you type

Search tips:

  • Search by alt text descriptions (e.g., "kitchen" or "modern")

  • Search by file name if you remember it

  • Keep search terms simple for better results

Browsing Folders

If you've organized media into folders:

  1. Click the folder you want to browse

  2. Scroll through the files in that folder

  3. Click to select

Sorting Files

Click column headers to sort the media list:

Sort By
Use When

Created At

Find recently uploaded files

Updated At

Find recently modified files

Filename

Find files alphabetically

Click the header again to reverse the sort order (newest/oldest, A-Z/Z-A).

Viewing File Details

To see more information about a file:

  1. Click on the file to open it

  2. View all details including:

    • File name and type

    • Dimensions (for images)

    • Upload date

    • Alt text and caption

    • Available sizes

Tips

  • Use descriptive alt text when uploading - it makes searching much easier later

  • Check recent uploads first - Sort by "Created At" descending

  • Browse folders if you know which project or category the image belongs to

  • Use the thumbnail view for visual scanning of many images
